Training
What is lululemon providing us as a training program?Introducing the 10-week TackleBox training plan! This training plan will give you everything you need to run the best 21.1k of your life and is designed to support both new and experienced runners. Both our official trainers and yogis have you covered.
The TackleBox plan is also included in our iPhone app: your personal pocket-size trainer.
Download the training programs here.
Certain local lululemon stores will be hosting run clubs to gear up for this event. Check out our store finder, to find your local lululemon. The stores also post great tips on their Facebook pages, so search there to find your store.
Print off the TackleBox training program or download the app, grab a friend and get running! We’ve built the program so that you can do it from anywhere, on your own or with friends. If you’re not sure if you’re local lululemon has a run club, check our store finder feature.
No. While engineered for participants of the SeaWheeze, anyone can follow along and utilize the training program and the app.
The official 10-week TackleBox training program starts on Monday June 3rd! (The Get Sweaty, Get Ready training started March 18th and is available to download here.)
Ideally you should be able to run for 45 minutes prior to starting this program. Walk/running is fine – follow the distances and times we recommend and walk/run at whatever intervals you are comfortable with.
The TackleBox training plan is 10 weeks, starting on June 3rd, and taking you through to the SeaWheeze on August 10th.
The program is designed to have you getting sweaty 6 days a week, at different levels of intensity. We’ve built in lots of yoga and cross-training, so you can mix up your workouts and take it easy for a day if you need to.
The training includes running (duh), yoga, and cross-training (anything from cycling, to swimming, to strength training). This training program is meant to build endurance so you can go the distance on SeaWheeze weekend.
Absolutely – running on treadmills is A-ok if that’s your jive.
The Get Sweaty Get Ready programs were built to get your body ready to start this 10-week training program. You’ve built an amazing base, now it’s time to push yourself with this program, so that you cross the finish line on August 10th smiling.
The Strength Circuit will be available in early April, as a downloadable PDF, found here. We promise to get it to you with plenty of time to spare before your first workout.
Fartlek is Swedish for speed play (don’t worry, no alan key required). Fartlek 3-2-1 training helps build variable intensity into your training. Run 3 minutes at a level 6 effort (out of 10), 2 minutes at a level 7, 1 minute at a level 8 and then repeat.
Most of your runs should be at an easy, conversational pace. Save your hardcore training energy for the last 10 weeks of training. Trust us, things are going to get real real!

Warming up and cooling down are important. Seriously! If you want to minimize injury and continue running through SeaWheeze and beyond warming up and cooling down properly is the right choice. Maintain an intensity level of 3 or 4 to properly ramp up or cool down.
Our official SeaWheeze trainer Blue has put together this dynamic warmup video to help you start all your runs on the right foot.
Find a hill with a decent incline (approximately 3 to 5 degree incline). You will also want to make sure the hill is about 50 meters long. Run up the hill at an 80 to 85% effort level until you reach the summit. Turn around at the top and jog back down at an easy, relaxed pace. Repeat for the duration of your workout. Intensity level on this should be an 8 out of 10 while you are running uphill – you got this!
If you live somewhere flat (hello Saskatchewan) or need an indoor option, a 5 degree incline on a treadmill will get your heart racing and an incline of to 2 or 3 degrees to recover.
The App is one part pocket sized personal trainer, one part DJ and one part Vancouver city guide. 10 week beginner and intermediate training programs include cross training, yoga and running options designed to help you reach your running goals. The app lets you track your training, share your progress and listen to incredible music to keep you motivated. You can also access live race results and weekend event details – just think of the app as your SeaWheeze concierge.
Download it in the App Store.
Is the App available for my phone?
The SeaWheeze app is currently available only for iOS devices.
Absolutely.
We’re working on this glitch, but we recommend downloading the free 8 tracks app to listen to our playlists. The beats will never stop and will get you through your toughest runs!
Stay glued to our facebook page for live chats with our official trainers and feel free to post your questions on facebook as well. What will help you, will probably help many. In addition, check in with your local store, they are always stoked to support!
